STATE NEET COUNSELING 2024

NEET COUNSELING 2024

Overview of State Medical Counseling Process for MBBS Admissions

The NEET COUNSELING 2024 process for MBBS (Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery) admissions in India involves several key steps, and it may vary across states. Common components, however, provide a general understanding of the process. Eligibility criteria, including age limits and educational qualifications, are fundamental prerequisites. Typically, candidates must have passed the 10+2 examination with specific subjects like Physics, Chemistry, and Biology and achieved minimum qualifying marks.

Entrance Examination and Online Registration:

Most states conduct a common entrance examination, such as NEET, as the basis for MBBS admissions. Once the results are declared, eligible candidates need to register online on the respective state’s counseling website.

Choice Filling and Locking:

Registered candidates participate in the choice-filling period, where they prioritize their preferred colleges and courses. Careful consideration is crucial when choosing the order of preferences, and candidates must ensure to “lock” their choices after making selections.

Document Verification and Merit List Publication:

Candidates are required to provide the necessary documents for verification during the NEET COUNSELING 2024 process. Identity proof, residence proof, mark sheets, and other relevant certificates are essential. Subsequently, state authorities release a merit list based on the candidates’ performance in the entrance exam and their choices, considering factors like reservation categories if applicable.

Seat Allotment and Acceptance:

Based on the merit list and choices made by candidates, the state authorities conduct the seat allotment process. Candidates are allocated seats in various medical colleges according to their rank and preferences. Those allotted seats must accept or reject them within a specified time frame and pay the required fees.

Second Round of Counseling and Reporting:

If there are vacant seats after the first round, a second round of counseling may be conducted. This often includes candidates who did not secure a seat in the first round or those who surrendered their seats. After accepting the seat, candidates need to report to the allotted medical college within the stipulated timeframe.

Government and Private Medical Colleges:

Government medical colleges reserve a certain number of seats for candidates qualifying through state counseling. The number of seats can vary by state. Private medical colleges also participate but generally allocate fewer seats for state quota candidates. They often reserve seats for management and NRI quotas with distinct criteria and fees.

Reservation Categories and All India Quota (AIQ):

Both government and private colleges may have reserved seats for specific categories like SC, ST, OBC, EWS, and physical disability candidates. The AIQ for MBBS seats in government medical colleges, determined by the central government, allocates a percentage of seats for candidates from all over India. Private medical colleges do not have an AIQ.

Merit and Rank:

Seat allocation primarily relies on the merit list created from NEET scores. Candidates with higher ranks have a better chance of securing seats in both government and private colleges. The distribution of seats and reservation policies can change yearly, so candidates should check the official websites for the most current information on NEET COUNSELING 2024 in their state.
